With Chelsea Flower show in full swing it’s that time of year when we all start thinking about our outside spaces. It obviously helps that the weather is warmer, and the days are longer, add in a bank holiday or two and it’s time to be outdoors a bit more.
As estate agents I continually see the difference a well-designed garden can make to a home, regardless of whether that is a balcony garden, a courtyard affair, a more standard size garden or right up to some serious acreage. Over the years I’ve seen stark evidence on the price achieved for properties when some care and consideration has been shown to the garden – it really should be thought of as another room in the house and given some designer style, especially if you want to achieve the very best price possible.
Many home owners are rather good at designing the interiors of their homes. However, there’s plenty of help out there for the novice to take advantage as gardens do tend to be a bit more of a speciality. So unless you are of the green fingered variety a bit of help may well be required – it’ll be worth some investment of both time and money, I promise.
I’m currently busy working on my own garden, it’s still a work in progress, I made some changes to the hard landscaping after being inspired at last year’s Chelsea Flower Show and have already started on the planting but there’s lots more still to come.https://www.rhs.org.uk/shows-events/rhs-chelsea-flower-show
